Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse’s Resident Alien is back at Dark Horse Comics today (11th September), with Resident Alien: The Suicide Blond #1 on sale now in all good comic shops.
A straightforward suicide . . . or a murder? At first, undercover alien Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle thinks the local police have this death solved, and then things get personal when one of his only human friends becomes a suspect…
It’s a terrific slow-buring opener for the new series, with the mysterious alien investigating a mysterious death in a motel and setting out for Seattle to investigate – his presence on Earth already noted by a shadowy organsation intent on tracking him down.
Hogan deftly reintroduces the main cast and his protagonist’s situation, further rounding out Harry’s character and developing others in the vast, weaving in some new threads to his tale. Art-wise, the story is more than ably realized by Steve Parkhouse with his usual consummate skill, drawing the reader along at a good pace as the mystery develops.

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.
He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
