Time Bomb Comics announces release date for Viking adventure, “Defiant: The Legend of Brithnoth”

Defiant: The Legend of Brithnoth

Time Bomb Comics will release a new graphic novel, Defiant: The Legend of Brithnoth, a hard-hitting historical adventure from writer Andy Winter (Hero Killers), artist Daniel Bell (Psircus) and colourist Aljosa Tomic (Veil) at London Super Comic Con.

On 10th August 991AD, a fleet of 93 Viking longships containing 3,000 men sailed up the River Pant in Essex to the fortified town of Maldon. Led by the king of Denmark himself – Sweyn Forkbeard – the Norsemen aimed to ransack the town, kill as many of its inhabitants as they could and, most importantly, raid the Royal Mint stationed there.

Brithnoth, an old soldier who was also the Earl of Essex and one of the most powerful men in England, assembled a small army and prepared to stand defiant against the coming onslaught. His deeds that day would be immortalised in a famous poem – The Battle of Maldon – and continue to cause furious debate more than a thousand years later.

Brimingham-based Time Bomb Comics, founded in 2007 by Steve Tanner, a British comics company that only publishes one-shots and graphic novels, from historical horror to mind-bending science-fiction each release is a complete story by talented creators. From exciting newcomers to established professionals its artists and writers are united with a single aim – Telling Great Stories. Past releases include Longship, written by Lawrence Rider, with art by Rebecca Teall; and Charlotte Corday adventures such as London Calling and Squadron of the Screaming Damned by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
