Doctor Who artist Paul Hanley delivers “Steampunk Iris” (Wildthyme, that is)

A Clockwork Iris, the next Iris Wildthyme collection

Here’s the cover for A Clockwork Iris, the next Iris Wildthyme collection, by the brilliant Paul Hanley. Published by Obverse Books, Iris Wildthyme is a fictional character created by writer Paul Magrs, who has appeared in short stories, novels and audio dramas from numerous publishers.

She’s best known from spin-off media based on Doctor Who, where she is sometimes depicted as a renegade Time Lady.

A stop-motion movie-maker, commercial artist, and sort-of-pro comic artist. Paul Hanley has done official work for Godzilla and Judge Dredd (for IDW Comics), Firefly (Toy Vault Inc.) and Doctor Who (Titan Comics and the game Doctor Who Legacy from Tiny Rebel Games).

This “Steampunk Iris” isn’t his first commission in connection with the character (he’s also done art on her Big Finish releases), and we’re sure it won’t be the last!

If you’re a Doctor Who fan, check out his web site – there’s some terrific work there – including some characters longtime Doctor Who Magazine readers will recognise!

The new Iris Wildthyme collection includes stories from Paul Magrs, Christopher Bryant, Simon Brett, Paul Driscoll, Ian Charles Douglas, Matt Bright and many others.
