2000AD publisher Rebellion – which now owns a large number of comic brands and characters previously published by Fleetway – has appealed for help to find physical copies of the short-lived boys adventure comic Thunder.
In online appeals, Rebellion say they are trying to plug a gap in their recently acquired archive.
Thunder was a classic “Hatch, Match and Dispatch” weekly comic that lasted just 22 issues from 1970 to 1971, before merging into Lion.
(“Hatch, Match and Dispatch” refers to a title comic publishers hoped would help boost the sales of another title by attracting new readers to a fresh title on the news stand, who would then hopefully buy the surviving title it merged with, to follow the adventures of characters that survived the move to a new home).
While short lived, Thunder‘s line up includes the grungy time-travelling hero Adam Eterno – a character surely deserving revival – and the adventures of World War One villain Black Max and his giant killer bats. (No – seriously!)
To complete their archive Rebellion are looking for the issues of Thunder from #1 (17th October 1970) through to the end of December 1970.
