Eddie Robson and Rachael Smith share free Graphic Novels Panel billing for “Lancaster Words”

Comic creators Eddie Robson and Rachael Smith will be talking about their comics work at a free “Lancaster WordsGraphic Novels Panel on Saturday 8th July 2017 in Lancaster, an event chaired by comics editor John Freeman.

The free event has been organised by Lancaster University‘s Department of English Literature and Creative Writing.

Eddie Robson is a regular writer for 2000AD, and has also written comics for Captain America, Doctor Who and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. His sitcom, Welcome To Our Village, Please Invade Carefully, ran for two series on BBC Radio. He has written episodes of Hollyoaks, The Amazing World of Gumball, Floogals and Sarah & Duck for TV, and for radio he’s written sketches for Mitchell and Webb and over a dozen episodes of Doctor Who. Rachael Smith

Rachael Smith

Rachael Smith is the creator of graphic novels House Party, The Rabbit and Artificial Flowers, as well as web-comics Ask Flimsy and Bess. Most recently, she has released an autobiographical comic called Wired Up Wrong. Smith is currently writing her new book and working on her monthly strips for Titan’s Doctor Who: Tenth Doctor comic series. More information can be found at www.rachaelsmith.org

John Freeman is the founder of British comics web site downthetubes.net, has worked in British comics publishing for over 25 years, starting out at Marvel UK, where he edited titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Death’s Head II and Warheads. He’s currently working as a freelance editor for Titan Comics on their Knightfall, Little Nightmares and Lost Fleet – Corsair titles, is Creative Consultant on the new Dan Dare Audio Adventures, and engaged on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival and Lancaster Comics Day. He is also writing Crucible, a creator-owned comic with 2000AD artist Smuzz, published on Tapas; and Death Duty and Skow Dogs with Dave Hailwood for the digital comic 100% Biodegradable. Previous work includes strips for Doctor Who Magazine, Judge Dredd Megazine, Lucky Bag Comic, Strip Magazine and ROK Comics.

Lancaster Words is a three-day event which will also host a panel from playwright and screenwriter Daragh Carville and many more.
