Nottingham-based comic shop Page 45 is making its annual pilgrimage northwards for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival next month – and has announced a slew of special signings at the weekend-long event.

The Page 45 team, led by Festival patron Stephen L. Holland, plan to present several enticingly exotic graphic novels – many of which you won’t find elsewhere – with creators to sign and sketch in them for free! Plus, a Moomintroll (perhaps escaped from the Moomin Exhibition at the Festival) might be yours – tune in to Page 45 on Twitter to find out more on Saturday 14th October).

Taking place in Georgian Room, upstairs in the free-to-enter Comics Clock Tower over (access Saturday 14th October 14th and Sunday 15th October, there will be signings by John Allison, the Avery Hill Publishing team, Dan Berry, Hannah Berry, Joe Decie, Oliver East, Jonathan Edwards, Louise Evans (Felt Mistress), Jason, Metaphrog, Sean Phillips, Emmeline Pidgen, Bryan Talbot, Ben Read and  Chris Wildgoose, and Emma Vieceli (full details here on the Page 45 web site, where you can also find out how to order books from award-winning  store and collect them at the event).

Bryan Talbot’s Grandville: Force Majeure will be on sale exclusively in Page 45’s Georgian Room from 10.00am on Saturday, more than a month before it’s published on 16th November, by special arrangement with publisher Jonathan Cape.

“Although everything Page 45 does at LICAF is free – as is most of the festival including exhibitions and the entire Kendal Comics Clock Tower with dozens more creators like Duncan Fegredo signing, sketching in and selling their wonderful wares you will want to see talks,” Stephen enthuses. “Every October Page 45 brings gorgeous graphic novels to The Lakes International Comic Art Festival in Kendal, where we have our very own Georgian Room. It is ever so lush! Then we clutter it up with comic book creators signing and sketching throughout the weekend for free!

“We do this because Kendal is kindness personified, and the entire town is taken over by our shared love of comics… It is honestly so much fun! We have fun, the creators have fun, their readers have fun, and we make a great deal of money!”
