Beano’s Dennis & Gnasher head Down Under!

Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed

Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed will air on ABC ME in Australia, the first International sale of Beano Studios hit new series based on the Beano characters.

The sale follows a successful UK launch, securing the most watched spot on CBBC in its premiere week, earlier this year.

Comprising 52 x 11 minute episodes for its first season, the CGI animation show offers a new look for Dennis, Gnasher and the gang, and introduces a new host of characters to Beanotown.

“This is a hugely important moment for Beano Studios,” says Allison Watkins, EVP global consumer products and TV distribution at Beano Studios.

“Following the amazing reaction at Mipcom ealier this year, it is wonderful to welcome ABC to the Beano family as the first international broadcaster to come on board with Dennis and his friends.

“Our amazing group of friends have struck a chord with international territories and we are confident that global audiences will love Dennis, Gnasher and new friends JJ and Rubi as much as UK audiences have done.

“It shows there is an audience yearning for fun and mischievous storytelling, where our group of friends are front and centre of all the action.”

Jetpack Distribution announced it had acquired international rights to season one of the show from Beano Studios, the work of award-winning Jellyfish Pictures, from their south London Brixton studio, back in August.

Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed promises to be a real hit and contains so many elements that kids love,” feels Jetpack Distribution’s CEO Dominic Gardner. “Fun, humour, excitement and friendship. We are really looking forward to presenting the show to global buyers.”

Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed

Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed centres on the irrepressible Dennis: the more extreme the adventure, the louder the rock track, the more epic the skateboard trick, the more Dennis wants to take the lead. Gnasher, a stray dog he adopted and now his faithful sidekick, is an extremely rare Abyssinian wire-haired tripe-hound with the strongest jaws and a razor-sharp wit to match.

The inseparable duo are joined in their adventures by friends Rubi, JJ, Pieface and his pet potato, Paul.

The show boasts an all-star voice cast, lead by Freddie Fox (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Pride) as Dennis; Ryan Sampson (Plebs) as Pieface; Rasmus Hardiker (Thunderbirds Are Go) as Walter; Kathryn Drysdale (St. Trinians) as JJ, and Kelly Marie Stewart (Hollyoaks) as Rubi.

“We are bringing a truly filmic feel to Dennis and Gnasher Unleashed,” says Allison Watkins. “It’s a high-quality CGI series rooted in real world film techniques. Using sophisticated directional lighting and real-world cameras and lenses we have created a rich and atmospheric world.”
