Created by John Wagner, Alan Grant and Carlos Ezquerra for the legendary 2000AD strip “Strontium Dog”, Durham Red returns in a brand new solo series “Born Bad” by writer Alec Worley (Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and artist Ben Willsher (“Judge Dredd”, Doctor Who).

This eight-part series sees the mutant vampire bounty hunter struggling for work following the closure of the Search/Destroy Agency. Forced to take on whatever job may come her way, Durham is hired by a dying gangster to track down his long-lost mother – a woman prepared to take deadly measures to cover her tracks.

“This is a brand-new take on the classic 2000AD character, revamped for modern readers,” Alec tells us. “New direction! New costume! New readers welcome!

“There will be blood…”

London-based Alec spent several years as a projectionist in the picture palaces and fleapits of London’s West End, before jacking it all in to become a movie journalist writing for Sight & Sound, Empire, Total Film, SFX, and others. In 2005 he published the book, Empires of the Imagination: A Critical Survey of Fantasy Cinema from Georges Méliès to The Lord of the Rings.

Alec got into comics through the slush pile at 2000AD and has written “Judge Dredd”, “Judge Anderson” and “Robo-Hunter”, as well as created two original series: paranormal comedy “Dandridge” (with artist Warren Pleece) and urban fantasy saga “Age of the Wolf” (with artist Jon Davis-Hunt). He hs written Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars for younger readers, as well as Realm of the Damned, a series of horror graphic novels most definitely for grown-ups.

He’s written a popular trilogy of books about the early adventures of Judge Anderson and also writes for Games Workshop/ Black Library’s Warhammer 40,000 series.

One of 2000AD‘s best-known artists, Ben Willsher‘s knowledge of the Galaxy’s Greatest comic’s lore and Mega-City history is vast and he always enhances his incredible artwork with in-jokes and Easter Eggs for the fans. Hand-picked by writer Andy Diggle to replace the mighty Jock on “Lenny Zero” his credits include the Sinister Dexter story, “Relode”, the Judge Dredd tales “The Skinning Room” and “California Babylon”, Strontium Dog and covers for Judge Dredd Magazine and 2000AD.
