cereal:geek magazine goes video game crazy…

Cereal Geek Issue 16The latest issue of cereal:geek, the magazine devoted to animation of the 1980s, is now available for pre-order.

Issue 16 showcases animation inspired by video games. Not only did some cartoons of the 1980s receive the video game treatment, but certain cartoons of the eighties were based on video games!

By far, the cartoon that had the most success in its transition to video games was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and an in-depth article in the pages of this issue covers every single one (even the bad ones).

Another article reveals how Filmation had planned to make a He-Man video game. Don Bluth’s Dragon’s Lair and Space Ace laserdisc productions are also covered, as well as their questionable transition to Saturday morning television.

Both Captain N: The Game Master and Mario himself are also, naturally, showcased.

Other shows covered include Dungeons & Dragons, G.I. Joe, Pole Position, She-Ra, The Incredible Hulk, Transformers and ThunderCats.
