Alan Moore’s Jerusalem release as omnibus paperback

Alan Moore’s Jerusalem

Jerusalem, the New York Times-bestseller from Alan Moore, author of From Hell and Watchmen is now available in a single-volume paperback.

On sale from today, Tuesday 25th September in shops and in digital from 25th September, the novel is published in the UK from Knockabout (£16.99) and in the US from Liveright ($24.95).

The Library Journal describes Moore’s sprawling tale as “confusing, hilarious, sad, mind-blowing, poignant, frustrating, and one of the most beautiful books ever written. More of a work of art than a novel, this book simply needs to be read.”

The Spectator similarly praises the work. “Jerusalem slips in and out of time, embracing Charlemagne, Einstein and Thomas Becket. You’ll emerge dazed — and dazzled by its brilliance.”

Alan Moore’s Jerusalem

Jerusalem is set in decaying Northampton, where eternity loiters between housing projects. Among saints, kings, prostitutes, and derelicts, a timeline unravels: second-century fiends wait in urine-scented stairwells, delinquent specters undermine a century with tunnels, and in upstairs parlors, labourers with golden blood reduce fate to a snooker tournament.

Through the labyrinthine streets and pages of Jerusalem tread ghosts singing hymns of wealth and poverty. They celebrate the English language, challenge mortality post-Einstein, and insist upon their slum as Blake’s eternal holy city.
