First Look: Doctor Who Magazine’s first Thirteenth Doctor comic

Doctor Who Magazine has teased its first Thirteenth Doctor comic adventure. “The Warmonger” by Scott Gray, who also penned the first Twelfth Doctor story for the title and John Ross (whose work on Who stretches back to the first issue of the original Doctor Who Adventures comic), begins in Doctor Who Magazine Issue 531, on sale tomorrow, Thursday 18th October.

Leading with an interview with new companion Bradley Walsh (who plays Graham O’Brien), the new issue also celebrates 50 years of UNIT, offers spoiler-free previews of upcoming episodes, background features ot the making of the show and much more.

Scott Gray began his career writing and illustrating comic stories for Razor Magazine, Time Space Visualiser and Timestreams, publications of the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club under his given name of Warwick Gray, adopting the pen-name Scott in 1995. His first strip for Doctor Who Magazine was the Seventh Doctor tale “Memorial”, drawn by John Ridgway, which ran in Issue 191 back in 1992.

He moved to the UK and went on to become the Magazine’s assistant editor and was the title’s regular comic strip writer between 1998 and 2004, covering most of the Eighth Doctor’s stories. He’s also the editor of Panini UK’s superhero comics and has written comics for Marvel Comics in the US, including Fin Fang Four, working with fellow Who comics creator Roger Langridge.

Doctor Who Magazine 531John Ross started working for Panini Comics in 1996, working on titles such as Masked Rider, Action Man and Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures. A regular artist on the Doctor Who Magazine strip, he was also the regular artist on Immediate Media’s Doctor Who Adventures, and much more.
