Just opened at the Primitivo Bar in Birmingham is a fantastic exhibition of art by this year’s Sergio Aragonés International Award for Excellence in Comic Art winner Hunt Emerson, which runs until February 2019.

It includes a splendid Calculus Cat silkscreen print, made specially for this exhibition.

Hunt’s career spans all-ages comics like The Beano as well as more adult affair with his “Calculus Cat” strips, which ran in Escape (and elsewhere), strips for Fortean Times and the odd literary adaption including The Rime of The Ancient Mariner. His latest work, the brilliant Bloke’s Progress (with Kevin Jackson),is based on the ideas of Victorian critic and philosopher John Ruskin.

From pictures posted on Facebook by local gallery Havill and Travis, who have organised the exhibition and are based at the Primitivo, as with his recent exhibitions in Kendal you can enjoy varied and eclectic set of images encompassing all sorts of subjects – not just comics.

This is also the first exhibition at which Hunt’s has ever been sold (as well as prints).
