Tintin in the Land of the Soviets - Sample Frame

In The Crab With the Golden Claws, published in English for the first time in 1958, Captain Haddock made a trip to Broadcasting House in London, to make a radio broadcast on the BBC Home Service.

Today, for the 90th anniversary of The Adventures of Tintin and Snowy, Simon Doyle – one of the team behind Tintinologist.org, the oldest and largest English-language, non-official Tintin fan-site on the Internet, is at  New Broadcasting House, to appear as a guest on several BBC local radio stations!

He’ll be chatting to the presenters about Tintin, Hergé and the books in the run-up to the anniversary of the first publication of Tintin in the Land of the Soviets (Tintin au Pays des Soviets), first published in Le Petit Vingtième between 10th January 1929 and 11th May 1930. Published in book form in 1930 and re-published in book form in 1973 as part of Les Archives d’Hergé, it was first published in English as a black and white album, translated by Leslie Lonsdale-Cooper and Michael Turner, in 1989.
