Amazing British comic annuals up for auction from Phil Comics

Phil Comics first vintage comic auction of 2019 is now live on eBay, and includes some terrific Beano, Dandy and Lion annuals in its lots, along with some British comics including free gifts, and some editions of the short-lived Tornado adventure comic.

“One of the first deals we struck in 2019 was an attic find from a house in Crewe, Cheshire,” says auctioneer Phil Shrimpton. “The chap who bought the house, last year, found the loft full of all sorts, including a bundle of mainly tatty comics and around twenty 1950s annuals. They had been stored in two old boxes, preserving them in remarkably good shape with vibrant covers, spines and crisp pages.

“We suspect they were put up there in the 1960s and forgotten about until the house was bought from the elderly lady selling, indeed the mother of the boy whose annuals they were.

“We’re offering around half of them here and the rest will follow in due course. The highlight though of the annuals is a wonderful example of the 1947 Dandy Monster Comic from a separate collection.

“We’ve actually sold this exact book before and it doesn’t seem to impress any less second time round,” Phil reveals. “The Dandy Monster Comic for 1942 and 1945 are also present but these have restoration work.”
