Indigo Prime returns to 2000AD, Death Wish collection out in book shops today!

2000AD Prog 2139 - Cover2000AD Prog 2139 crashed into your newsagents yesterday, with an all-new “Indigo Prime” tale debuting this issue – and officially on sale today in all good book shops is Death Wish, a collection from Rebellion of the strip created by writer Barrie Tomlinson and artist Vanyo.

“Death Wish” first appeared in the short-lived Speed comic in 1990, moving to Tiger and, later, Eagle. The story centres on Blake Edmonds, a man who had it all: fame, money, looks… and then the world-famous F1 driver suffered a terrible accident, which left him hideously disfigured. Fashioning a mask to hide his terrible visage, Edmonds has taken on a new career as a stuntman, flirting with death on a regular basis.

The character was revived last year by Simon Furman and Simon Coleby for the first The Vigliant tale.

Run by Clive Vista and Major Arcana, Indigo Prime is a company that manages the multiverse, its teams of Imagineers, Seamsters, Glancers, Sceneshifters and more – all recruited post-death – responsible for the infinite number of parallel realities. The inter-dimensional troubleshooters latest story arc for 2000AD is  “Fall of the House of Vista” by Kek-W and Lee Carter, picking up almost straight away from where we left off at the close of “A Dying Art” back in Prog 2058. The new arc hist the ground running with mind-numbing force and shocks for the ‘team’ – and the art is fantastic on this one.

Meanwhile, over in “Absalom“, things also get weirder and weirder and artist Tiernen Trevallion cranks up his superb creepy imagery to the maximum, perfectly bringing out the very best of Gordon Rennie’s horror adventure. Oh, and kudos to Simon Davis on “Thistlebone“, too – his stunning art on this horror story by TC Eglington, set in a far from normal English village gets more unsettling with every passing issue!

Led by the charismatic Jasper Hillman, their pagan beliefs grew ever more radical to the point where they held the young Avril Eason captive with the intention of sacrificing her. But Avril escaped…
