Webfind: Midnight Surfer, a 2000AD-inspired Chopper game

Here’s some test footage for Midnight Surfer, a Co-Op Racing Game set within the universe of Judge Dredd developed by Masters Students at Abertay University as part of their studies.

Not for profit, the project was mentored by Zoltan Fejes of Rebellion, owners, of course of 2000AD and the Judge Dredd character Chopper that inspired it.

One member of the team who worked on this was Sarah Martin (aka Art of Kad) who explains on her official web site that as a Character Designer and Environment Artist on the project, worked alongside a diverse team to help design the characters and develop the world of Mega-City One.

An an Environment Artist and Character Designer on the project, her primary roles focused on crafting ‘Landmark’ environment pieces of Mega-City One to bring the city to life, as well as working with character designs for both Chopper and new character, Zaria.

The Centre for Excellence in Computer Games Education at Abertay offers a unique, world-renowned programme, aiming to give students a skillset that encompasses far more than basic technical excellence. The result, they say, offers an unparalleled opportunity for subsequent employment in leading creative and technological industries – specifically within the fields of coding, digital art, game design and audio – as demanded by the multi-billion pound games industry.

Judge Dredd created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, Chopper created by John Wagner and Brett Ewins.
