Save the Children and Beano partner to provide fund-raising Lockdown Birthday Party Kits

Beano Lockdown Birthday Kits in aid of Save the Children

Save the Children and Beano have joined forces to launch a blamtastic Lockdown Birthday power-up kit featuring some of the comic’s most famous faces. The kit will make sure children still have fantastically fun birthdays in lockdown, whilst at the same time raising vital funds to support vulnerable children here in the UK and across the world.

With birthday celebrations and parties being cancelled across the country due to the Coronavirus Pandemic lockdown measures, Dennis, Minnie and Bananaman are on hand to bring fun and games to thousands of children celebrating their birthdays at home.

The Lockdown Birthday Bash party kits are packed with all you could need for a Beano-themed party at home, including a personalised Happy Birthday card and window poster from a Beano character of your choice, loads of stickers and a set of Save the Children Beano postcards.

Birthday boys and girls will also be given an exclusive link to a digital pack, containing heaps of great activities for the whole family to join in with, including decorations, pranks, activities, games, recipes and more! Save the Children and Beano will keep adding content to this online hub, to ensure birthdays are just as fun as any other year.

On signing up for a Lockdown Birthday, there is an option to donate to Save the Children and all money raised from this will go towards helping children in the UK and 114 other countries keep safe, healthy, and learning.

Gemma Sherrington, Executive Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Save the Children said: “An estimated 350,000 children in the UK are due to celebrate their birthday in May alone, and we are delighted and grateful to Beano that they will be able to have much-loved characters bringing their birthdays to life at home – even in a lockdown.

“Every penny raised from donations for these packs will go towards supporting the most vulnerable children here in the UK and across the world.”

Grown-ups are also being encouraged to ‘donate’ their birthday through the Save the Children website and in return they will have access to a range of virtual birthday props and resources, including Whatsapp birthday invites, novel backgrounds for virtual meetings and a sheet of silly Beano jokes.

Emma Scott, CEO at Beano Studios said: “We have been working with Save the Children for a number of years and it’s really fantastic we have come together at what is a tough time for people across the country to provide some Beano party fun to those celebrating their birthdays but also help to raise much-needed cash to support children to thrive during these challenging times.”
