Buy The Bad Bad Place by David Hine and Mark Stafford – and help support The Cartoon Museum

Soaring Penguin Press and artist Mark Stafford have teamed up to raise money for London’s Cartoon Museum. Together, they are offering up signed editions of The Bad Bad Place, along with an original A6 piece by Mark as a very special offer, who as well as being the artist on terrific graphic novel created with writer David Hine, is Artist-in-Residence at the Museum.

As we’ve previously reported, after having had an expensive move at the end of 2019 to a new location, and being forced to close their doors temporarily due to the virus pandemic, the Cartoon Museum has no revenue stream to support existing costs.

All proceeds from the sale of every book bundle, or any other donations, which you can also make at point of sale, will be given to The Cartoon Museum.

“We’ve always had a fondness for The Cartoon Museum,” says co-publisher John Anderson. “Giving them these books is the least we can do if it helps the museum survive.”

“The Cartoon Museum provides an indispensable service in both preserving and presenting the UK’s cartooning history,” added Tim Pilcher, co-publisher, “as well as providing a space to support young artists.”

In The Bad Bad Place, a terrific graphic novel by David Hine and Mark Stafford, it seems that Faraway Hills, the modern community built on the site of the far, far older Crouch Heath, did not satisfy all the needs of the community. When the Castavette Estate reappeared on the edge of town, years after it had been demolished, those needs, those urges, those cravings were satisfied. But at what price?

David Hine and Mark Stafford, the team responsible for The Man Who Laughs and Lip Hook, bring you a disturbing tale of Urban Unease, a horror tale of dreams turned dark, and a mother’s soul blackened with revenge…
