Crowdfunding Spotlight: Journey Into Indignity by Paul Rainey

Journey into Indignity by Paul Rainey

Top British independent comics creator Paul Rainey, whose current big project, “Why Don’t You Love Me”, appears regularly in Aces Weekly, also has another comic project on the go, currently seeking backing on Kickstarter.

Journey Into Indignity is a magazine-sized collection of comic strips that he’s drawn over the last couple of years, and Paul has very kindly given us a sneak peek. I can safely report it’s everything thing you might expect from this wayward talent, whose view on the world not only makes you laugh, but think, too (but not too hard, it will hurt…).

Strips include “Reboot”, the story of a middle-aged comic fan’s desperate pitch to relaunch a long running superhero comic-book; and “The Angel Of Death”, in which a man who cannot die is only ever seen by his descendants on their death beds.

Also included is “I’m Listening”, in which a man is irritated by the disinterest of his girlfriend in some uninteresting news he has for her; plus “Sexaholic Panda”, “DJ Sorry”, “Beards”, and “lost episodes of Star Trek too filthy for TV”, Paul teases, “and some Star Wars jokes!”

For those unaware Paul Rainey is the hugely talented creator of great strips such as There’s No Time Like The Present, Thunder Brother: Soap Division and Book of Lists and is an occasional contributor to VIZ.

His current big project, “Why Don’t You Love Me”, appears regularly in Aces Weekly, and is also posted to his social media channels and web site.

“This is the first time that I’ve run a crowd funding campaign,” he tells us, adding that there are other items also included in the collection besides those we’ve highlighted.

“There are lots of pledges including opportunities to buy comics from my recent back catalogue, including Starman, my David Bowie inspired comic from earlier this year.”

The Kickstarter for Journey Into Indignity by Paul Rainey is currently live and ends midnight, Friday 13th November 13th – check it out here
