DC Thomson Media launches new Animal Planet title this week

Pandemic? What pandemic? Nothing, it seems, can derail a DC Thomson magazine launch, so look out for Animal Planet, on sale in newsagents and supermarkets from tomorrow.

Animal Planet magazine (2021)

Animal Planet magazine, also available on worldwide subscription, including a level that includes free gifts, is set to “fuel curious minds, help children make sense of the world and spark joy on every page,” according to promotional material.

“Kids have never been more engaged with their planet and the animal kingdom than they are now.”

The 100% recycled, eco-friendly magazine intends to bring kids up close and personal with animals, teaching them about conservation, science, animal behaviour, and the people making a difference to the planet’s future.

The title isn’t the only “eco friendly” magazine on sale in the UK of course – Eco Kids Planet, also available on subscription, has been a strong seller for a while now, and we’ve previously noted that title features some comic strip material, so let’s hope Animal Planet does, too.

If the title of DC Thomson’s new magazine sounds familiar, it should – the publisher previously launched an Animal Planet magazine back in 2011, to extend the reach of the Animal Planet Channel, also in partnership with Discovery Enterprises International. DC Thomson also worked with DeAgostini across Europe to publish editions in Benelux, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey.
