Kings Langley-based Excalibur Auctions hosts an online-only massive sale of Marvel, DC and independent comics later today (Saturday 15th May 2021), starting at 10.00am.

Alongside some American comic goodies, including early issues of The Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Suberboy, and more, also on offer are single issues of Marvel UK’s Captain Britain weekly, launched in 1976, including two copies of the first issue complete with Free Gift mask.

All lots start at £10 with no further reserve. Do note that bidding in the room is not available, so you need to register to bid.

Excalibur Auctions is a family-owned auction house established in February 2016 by husband and wife Jonathan and Sarah Torode, which runs frequent auctions of interest to downthetubes readers, including comics, movie collectibles and more.

They’ve been running successful comic auctions since January 2019, after entering the marketplace with a fairly large ‘Kapow’ with some key titles including an Amazing Fantasy #15, featuring Spider-Man’s first appearance, which sold for a staggering £17,900 (including Buyers Premium).

“This is an area in which we have continually surpassed market expectations,” say the team, “priding ourselves on our cataloguing and photographing to give all buyers worldwide the confidence to buy.”

Their next Vintage Toys and Model Railways Auction is on 29th May and all being well, will be held in-person. On offer will be a huge collection of Dinky and Corgi toys available including Batmobiles, James Bond Aston Martins and Thunderbirds consignments.
