Rare boxed Batman robot attracts fierce bidding in latest Lacy Scott & Knight toy auctions

Fans of Batman, classic steam engine models, Corgi, Dinky and other toys and model brands are bidding furiously in two Toys and Models Sales organised by Bury St Edmunds-based auction house Lacy Scott & Knight.

On offer are some 1500 lots, that include Live Steam and related items, all gauges of Model Railway and Railwayana, Meccano, Diecast Models including Corgi, Dinky, Matchbox, Tinplate and Triang, Juvenalia, Britains and plastic kits, and more.

Both sales, spread over two rooms at the auction house, will take place on 20th August 2021, with a viewing the previous day. There are already high bids on classic toys encompassing racing cars, military vehicles and more – and, of course, there’s particular interest in media-tie-ins, including Batman, Doctor Who, James Bond and Star Wars.

While rare steam engine models are have some high estimated sales in the steam engines-dominated auction, a rare boxed T.N NomuraBatman” battery robot is proving of particular interest in the toy car-dominated offering. Released in 1966, it has an opening price of £2500, and is expected to sell for much more.

This Batman is a classic robot toy (even if its design makes it rather prone to falling over, according to collectors!) that is highly searched for by robot and non-robot collectors.

Other items include boxed Corgi Batman toys, original Dinky Thunderbird 2, James Bond Aston Martins and some original watercolour art commissioned for the development of the Forward March Corgi Toys range, die-cast figures of famous people from history.
