Dogooder Comics launches first title, ‘Dungeon Fun’

Dogooder Comics, a new Scottish small-press comics publisher, will launch their first book Dungeon Fun with a launch party at Plan B Books in Glasgow this Wednesday, before debuting UK-wide at Thought Bubble this weekend.

Dungeon Fun is a story of a girl and her sword…

Raised by trolls in the moat of a castle, Fun Mudlifter lives a life of boredom, until one day when adventure finds her and a sword plummets into her village. Setting off to confront the trolls responsible for the falling items that plague her and her neighbours, Fun begins an off-beat odyssey that encompasses jobsworth trolls, three-headed beasts, soothsaying shamans and headless barbarians, as she valiantly battles her way up through the dungeons to her final goal. With hilarious results!

Dungeon Fun is 32 full-colour pages of adventuring comedy from the Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance Award-nominated duo of writer Colin Bell and artist Neil Slorance, who between them are responsible for titles such as The Amateur Astronomer’s Journal, Jonbot Vs Martha, and Detective Space Cat.

The comic has already gained positive reviews in advance of release, with Gary Watson at Comics Anonymous desecribing it as “an indie dream-team hitting us with their big guns……like the A-Team emerging from a shed with a cannon that fires vegetables.”

“I can honestly say that Dungeon Fun is the funniest comic I have ever read.” enthuses Rob Jones at INTER-COMICS.

The good reviews are well deserved. One of the things that missing for kids (of all ages) is fun comics making a mockery of various tropes (fantasy stories and hero knights, to name but two). Dungeon Fun happily steps up to the plate and demolishes as many as they can in 32 pages, with a lively, funny tale that should appeal to anyone who ever read a fairy tale.

If you're intrigued by the Idea of a story featuring trolls with name badges and a three headed monster that has one head called Cecil, Dungeon Fun is definitely for you. Enjoy.

The brand new comic will go on sale digitally and in select comic stores in Glasgow on “Dungeon Fun Day” (Wednesday 20th November 2013) before debuting UK-wide at Leeds’ Thought Bubble Festival this coming weekend (the title is one of several comicsbeat.com have urged their readers to check out at the event).

Dogooder Comics is a new small-press publisher committed to putting out original, visionary and entertaining comics from the UK’s brightest creators. Dungeon Fun will quickly be followed by two new books by wholly different creative teams in 2014, details of which will be announced shortly.
