Bristol Comic Expo back in May at new venue

With Bristol’s Temple Meads Station undergoing a massive £100m re-development over the next four years as the hub of the governments new high speed electric rail link, the 2014 Bristol Comic Expo (BCExpo) has had to seek a new home, since the old railway shed that was its principal venue is being converted into the main platform and entrance for the terminal.

Taking the loss of the venue in its stride, the Comic Expo has entered into a long-term agreement with the Future Inn Cabot Circus Conference Centre and hotel, a purpose built facility as part of the Cabot Circus development in the heart of Bristol – and will now deliver not just one but two Expo’s every year.

“The Expo has enjoyed great success at the shed and while the venue will be missed it does open up new possibilities for the Bristol show,” says a team spokesperson.

The BCExpo will be back as always for its 15th year on the second weekend of May 2014, bringing the best of the international and independent comic world to the south west along with our usual mix of pop-culture, sci-fi, fantasy and gaming.

Early guests announced so far include Amelia Cole artist Nick Brokenshire, (published in print by IDW and digitally by Monkeybrain Comics) illustrator Anastasia Catris, and members of indie publisher Planet Jimbot team.

The first ever South West Anime and Gaming Expo will be held on the first weekend of October 2014, celebrating the Expo team’s love for all things from the Far East, showcasing all the best in anime, manga, music and cosplay with special guests and events all weekend.

“2014 is already shaping up to be Bristol’s greatest year yet and with the addition of another show and more events than ever before we hope you will join us as we take the Bristol Expo to the future.”
