Tempt Fayt and check out The Phoenix!

The Phoenix Issue 133 - Cover

The latest issue of The Phoenix – Issue 133 is on sale now from select partners including Waitrose supermarket and via subscription and as a digital release for iPad.

The Demon’s Watch continues this issue, as the errant team get ever closer to their target in “Tales of Fayt” by David Wyatt; Metal Steve finds a new home much to the dismay of Skunky in “Bunny vs Monkey” by Jamie Smart, a bottom pinch leads to a full-on brawl in the absolutely fantastic, beautifully written and drawn “Long Gone Don” by the Etherington Brothers, Adam is unlocking the secrets of the universe with John Dee in “Corpse Talk” by Adam Murphy, and Evil Cat moulds Eugene into something whiter and fluffier than he already is in “Evil Emperor Penguin” by Laura Anderson.

"Tamsin of the Deep" by Neill Cameron and Kate Brown.

“Tamsin of the Deep” by Neill Cameron and Kate Brown continues in The Phoenix.

“Tamsin of the Deep” a tale of dangerous mermaids and much more by Neill Cameron and drawn by Kate Brown also continues, with one of the series characters, Morgan in some serious watery trouble, and he’s most definitely not alone under the waves. If you’re interested in finding out more about this story, check out Kate Brown’s tumblr where, as well as talking about her many other projects, she’s posted this fascinating insight into the creation of the strip, focusing on a page drawn for last issue’s episode.

Kate, who also drew a guest issue of Marvel’s Young Avengers, is of course something of a Phoenix veteran, whose credits include “The Lost Boy”, “Emilie’s Turn” and “Medieval Games”.

The Phoenix is a subscription-based comic aimed at 9-12 year old readers with limited news stand distribtion at present (it’s sold in Waitrose and some Forbidden Planet stores, and available digitally through a fantastic app on iTunes, created by Panel Nine) but the editorial team have big plans to promote itself in coming months, including ongoing workshops at comic conventions such as the Lakes International Comic Art Festival and elsewhere – and a great new subscription offer which enables you to subscribe for six weeks from just £1!
