Angus Allan and Arthur Ranson’s “The Beatles Story” re-published in Germany

The Beatles Story - German CoverHeres’ a quick follow up on our report at the weekend that Great Britain is the guest country at this year’s Munich Comic Festival, the second largest comic event of its kind in Germany, running 4th – 7th June 2015.

We can confirm that artwork from Angus Allan and Arthur Ranson’s The Beatles Story, first published in ITV’s Junior TV Times title Look-In, forms part of the The Beatles in Comics on view in the Valentin-Karlstadt-Musäum from 7th May until 9th June 2015.

As far as we’re aware, this is the first time art from the critically-acclaimed strip has been on public view, courtesy of the artist, Arthur Ranson.

German publisher Boiselle & Ellert published a collection of the strip last year, offering German Beatles fans the opportunity to relive the stories of the four lads from Liverpool who went in to transform the music industry as The Beatles.

The Beatles – available digitally for iPad and iPhone from ROK Comics in English – charts The Beatles story from Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s first encounters,  their early gigs in Hamburg Kaiser Keller, in Hamburg, through to the recording of the legendary Abbey Road album and break-up.

In addition to a standard collection, the publisher also published four limited editions of 250 copies, each featuring an individual Beatle on the cover.

These limited editions were offered along with another title, Die Beatles im Comic (The Beatles in Comics) by comics expert Horst Berner, charting the Fab Four’s comics history and offering a richly illustrated and highly interesting “Magical Mystery Tour ” of some unexpected comic book heroes.
