With news that Panini UK, already publishers of Doctor Who Magazine, take over the publication of Doctor Who Adventures from Immediate Media later next month, we have a treat for you – a first look at the first new strip for the comic, written by Jason Quinn and drawn by Russ Leach, coloured by Marvel UK veteran John Burns.
Russ has worked in the creative sphere since 1986 and over his 25 plus year career he has worked on a wide variety of creative projects with many different companies, with comics work appearing in the digital anthology, Aces Weekly, for Markosia (working with writer Cy Dethan on the recently-released The Suicide Show) and Time Bomb Comics. His client list also includes such well known brands such as EMAP, Hornby, Sony, Meccano, Harrods and Thomson – and he is constantly involved in a number of online and offline projects.
“The pages are coming together well,” Russ says of his work on the new stories so far. “I’m about to start another issues pencils today. [Colourist] John Burns’ colours are lovely!
“I’ve mostly used a more adult style for the books I’ve been involved with so far,” he says of his art, “so I’ve had to adapt and create a style that is lighter but at the same time not watering down the character too far – Jason is pleased with where we have it and so am I!”
