Doctor Who: The Complete History Part Work enters Test Phase

Doctor Who: The Complete History

Perhaps as a result of the success of their Doctor Who “Specials” the team behind Doctor Who Magazine have gone one stage further with a new joint project with part works publisher Hatchette – and have begin road testing Doctor Who: The Complete History.

All part works go through a limited release test and many don’t get further than this – we’re still waiting for the launch of the Gerry Anderson part work that attracted a lot of interest some time back, for example. But part work publishers have had a good deal of success with Doctor Who related releases, so perhaps this will get a little further than a web site and a limited news stand distribution in a test area, usually in the North East of England.

Like Hatchette’s Judge Dredd range, each issue is being planned as a full hardcover book, detailing a mass of behind-the-scenes information from all of the Doctor’s TV adventures, including story outline, production, publicity and broadcast notes, along with cast and crew information and more.

The project has been planned to run over 80 volumes, covering all twelve Doctors (with some Doctors with more adventures being covered over more volumes than others). The Doctor Who fan site Kasterborous has more detail on the project.
