British Comics Recalled: Tower Magazines “Action Man”

Action Man Issue 1
I used to love Action Man as a kid – and John Freeman’s post last week about the toys being sold by Vectis sent me to the back of the cupboard to dig out my copies of the comic so you could see the covers.
The first Action Man comic (which lasted only six issues) was published by Tower Magazines – part of a short-lived moved by Daily Express publisher Richard Desmond’s Northern & Shell empire into comics.
A bi-weekly title published from June 1995, it featured the ongoing conflicts between Action Man and his nemesis Dr. X, creators involved included Simon Fraser and Mike McKone.
Most issues feature posters by Colin MacNeil and some have art input by ex-art 2000AD droid Robin Smith.
A succesor publication, also titled Action Man, was launched in 1996 by Panini UK and ran for 138 issues, replaced in 2006  by a spin-off, Action Man: A.T.O.M., when A.T.O.M. replaced the Action Man toy line and TV show.
Enjoy!
