Comic Heroes returns to the News Stand

Comic Heroes Issue 25

Some 18 months after Comic Heroes magazine was cancelled, the title has take an leaf from The X-Men and risen like a Phoenix from the ashes.

Brought to you again by Future Publishing, the 148-page quarterly Comic Heroes is back with a new look, pitched as “essential reading for life-long fans and newcomers alike…  the only magazine dedicated to all things comics – everything from graphic novels through to the films and videogames they inspire.”

It features the best in creator interviews, chats with the stars of blockbuster movies, as well as practical advice for aspiring writers or artists. This re-launch issue includes a preview of Titan Comics Johnny Red mini series, the work of Garth Ennis and Keith Burns and a feature on David Lloyd’s digital anthology, Aces Weekly, plus:

• Warren Ellis on his new James Bond adventure, VARGR
• The relaunch of the Vertigo line
• Grant Morrison on Klaus and why he’s taking over Heavy Metal
• Paul Cornell’s magical rockumentary, This Damned Band
• The first part of an ongoing feature on creating indie comics
• Behind the scenes at Archie’s Dark Circle superhero line

The magazine’s 16-page review section gets to grips with the latest titles, from the newest superhero comics to the hippest graphic novels, and our guide to creating independent comics is essential reading for all wannabe creators.

Despite its predominantly US comic-skewed content, comics archivist and creator Lew Stringer is delighted to see the magazine’s return.
“I think there’s a certain joy for anyone interested in comics to be able to wander into a newsagents and buy a magazine dedicated to the medium,” he says. “I hope Comic Heroes is here to stay this time.”
