Revised Thrill-Power Overload Out Next Month

Revised and expanded, a new edition of Thrill-Power Overload – the definitive history of one of the world’s most influential comics – is coming to book stores in February.

With more than 140 pages of fresh content, the brand new hardcover edition of Thrill-Power Overload is being published on 9th February to coincide with the celebrations marking 2000AD’s 40th birthday on 26th February.

This edition brings the story of 2000AD bang up to date – from its humble and rocky beginnings in February 1977 to its current position as the self-styled ‘Galaxy’s Greatest Comic’, Thrill-Power Overload charts the incredible history of this ground-breaking title.

With exclusive interviews, hundreds of illustrations and rarely-seen artwork, former 2000AD editor David Bishop and journalist Karl Stock guide you through four decades of action, adventure, excitement and the occasional editorial nightmare.

Told by the people who were there, this is the definitive history of the comic that launched a thousand talents including legends such as John Wagner, Pat Mills, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Carlos Ezquerra, Brian Bolland, Dave Gibbons, Mick McMahon, Grant Morrison, Kevin O’Neill, Simon Bisley and continues with 21st Century breakthrough talents such as Jock, Rob Williams, Andy Diggle, Al Ewing, Henry Flint, Frazer Irving – and many, many more.

John Freeman

The founder of downthetubes, which he established in 1998. John works as a comics and magazine editor, writer, and on promotional work for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He is currently editor of Star Trek Explorer, published by Titan – his third tour of duty on the title originally titled Star Trek Magazine.

Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who Magazine, Babylon 5 Magazine, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics. He has also edited several comic collections, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”.

He’s the writer of “Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies” for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs” with Dave Hailwood.
