Renowned comics journalist and graphic novelist Joe Sacco is back in the UK later this month, to present the inaugural Queen Mary Conversation in Law and the Humanities on Tuesday 21st March 2017 at Queen Mary, part of the prestigious University of London.

This event is free but prior booking is required.

Joe Sacco is a Maltese-American cartoonist and journalist. He is best known for his comics journalism whose work has featured in several newspapers across the globe, including Britain’s Guardian newspaper. His comics include the books Palestine (1996, re-released in 2015) and Footnotes in Gaza (2009), on Israeli–Palestinian relations; and Safe Area Goražde (2000) and The Fixer and Other Stories (2003) on the Bosnian War.

Presented by the Department of Law, an on-stage interview with Joe Sacco will be conducted by Dr Maks Del Mar and Professor Penny Green. The aim of the new flagship series is to invite scholars and practitioners working in the arts and humanities to discuss the role of law in their work, and to thereby showcase the most cutting edge practice and research in law and the humanities.
