IDW Publishing has announced it will launch its first Star Trek: Discovery on 25th October 2017, just a month after the series launches on CBS All Access in the United States and Canada, and on Netflix worldwide.

Written by Mike Johnson and Kristin Beyer with art and cover art by Tony Shasteen the book will tie in with the new series, fleshing out events on the show, which has gone through a number of behind the scenes production team changes (including the exit of series creator and show runner Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, American Gods) that delayed the original launch plans for earlier this year.

Last month, CBS announced Star Trek: Discovery, which debuts 24th September on CBS All Access, “will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.

“The series will feature a new ship, new characters, and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.”

Each issue of the Star Trek: Discovery comic book will come with a “ships of the line” cover by Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire, which will provide a great glimpse of the space vessels from the new series.
