Commissioned by the Lakes International Comic Art Festival to celebrate the work of Tove Jansson, “Archipelagogo ” is a spellbinding multimedia exhibition by artists Jonathan Edwards and Louise Evans (Felt Mistress) creating a group of fantasy islands and creatures.

Archipelagogo is an amazing-looking exhibition by Felt Mistress and Jonathan Edwards with an Andy Votel soundtrack.

There’s a preview evening this Saturday (30th September) at the Wildman Gallery in Kendal in the run up to this year’s Lakes International Comic Art Festival and we gather the town is already being taken over by comics as local businesses hand their shop windows over to comic creators and local groups for the annual “Windows Trail”.

Watch out, for example, for a special window display created by artist Bryan Talbot in the window of the St John’s Hospice charity shop, which will be complete by the weekend.

Commissioned by LICAF and supported by the Finnish InstituteArchipelagogo celebrates the work of Tove Jansson, this spellbinding multimedia exhibition by super-talented artists Jonathan Edwards and Louise Evans (Felt Mistress) creates a group of fantasy islands (archipelago) and creatures.

Each island and its inhabitants depends on the others – for example, the music created by the inhabitants of one island inspires the work created by the inhabitants on another.

Scenes from each island are depicted in a series of paintings and drawings while the islanders themselves are fully realised as 3D soft sculptures.

The soundtrack is a bespoke soundscape design created by world-renowned DJ, producer and record label owner Andy Votel.
