Crowdfunding Spotlight: Sliced Quarterly Volume 2, the Experimental Comic Anthology

Sliced Quarterly Volume 2, the Experimental Comic Anthology

Art by Gareth A. Hopkins

Sliced Quarterly, an experimental comic anthology, is running a crowdfunding campaign to print its second trade paperback collection. The diversity of the strips included offers a fascinating snapshot of creative talent out there in the indie field right now and I’ll hold my hand up now and say I’ve back this edition myself.

Edited by Ken Reynolds, Sliced Quarterly is a playground for creators to experiment with the comic book narrative.

Sliced Quarterly Volume 2, the Experimental Comic Anthology - Gruaig“We aim to showcase simple, authentic, literary stories told in extraordinary ways,” Ken explains. “Creators are invited to test the traditional norms of the medium, and in so doing, elevate how they connect and communicate with the reader.

“Each issue displays the value of sequential narrative art in its ability to be insightful, emotive and provocative. We publish ‘slice of life’ stories told in extraordinary ways.”

Sliced Quarterly Volume 2, the Experimental Comic Anthology - Just One Adventure“We’re looking to raise £2,400,” says Ken, and the project has already raised some £1300 plus toward that deserved goal. “That’s enough to cover the printing, and production of the book, the rewards on offer and to deliver them to our backers.”

I’ve featured some samples of some of the strips here – and every Sliced issue to date can be read and downloaded for free on the publication’s website, so you really can try before you buy! However, the book will also include bonus material not available in the website editions.

Check this lively project out, which has gained a Kickstarter “Projects we Love” recommendation, here
