Back in 2016, a group of comic creators from across the globe assembled as ‘Draw the Line: Concrete Political Actions Comics‘, hoping to focus protest at recent political developments into positive action. The project proved hugely popular – and now a book collecting the work of dozens of comic creators is in progresss.

Like the online version of the project, the work in the Draw The Line book, depicts positive political actions that anyone can take.

“Lots and lots of brilliant cartoonists are involved,” project co-ordination and artist Myfanwy Tristram told downthetubes. The impressive list includes Steven Appleby, Hannah Berry, Kate Charlesworth , Al Davison, Hunt Emerson, Karrie Fransman, Dave McKean, Nick Miller, Zara Slattery and many, many more. (You can see them all listed here).

“100 per cent of the creator profits will go to the charity helprefugees.org” she continues. “I’m really excited to see Draw The Line becoming a concrete reality.”

Working in partnership with Unbound, the end result will be some really beautiful hardback first editions. Additionally, you can opt to receive bookplates; prints of your favourite Draw the Line images; original artwork; or even commission a new piece.

“The most unusual rewards, though, are those where one of the artists will give you and your friends a talk or a workshop, sharing their skills and knowledge (and you get a bundle of the books as well).,” says Myfanwy. “These are dependent on where the artists live — each has stated how far they are willing to travel from their home — but as there are Draw The Line contributors in many areas of the UK, and in North and South America, Australia and Europe, we cover a lot of ground.

Right from the get go, Draw the Line was an amazing project that hit a chord with so many comic creators. Check out the Unbound page for more information and to find out how to back this terrific-looking book project.
