Bananaman Art Print Competition Winners!

Artist John Patrick Reynolds recently launched some new, official Bananaman screenprints, based on art originally created by Nigel Parkinson for the BEANO – and we recently ran a competition to win some!

Congratulation to winners Matthew Adams, Alexander Gunn Ms Mandy B and Martin McCanney who win copies of one of the two designs!

If you aren’t one of the lucky winners, buy your Bananaman Prints here from the Comic Art Site – and better luck next time to everyone else who entered!

As longtime BEANO, Dandy and Nutty fans know, Bananaman is a parody of Superman and Batman. We have a “Top Ten Banamanan” Facts Page right here!

In the strip, Eric Wimp, an ordinary schoolboy living at 29 Acacia Road, Nuttytown (later changed to Beanotown), eats a banana to transform into Bananaman, an adult superhero. His superpowers include the ability to fly but unfortunately he is still as naive as the child he changed from; as mentioned in the comic, he has the “muscles of twenty men and the brains of twenty mussels”.

Now, John has released two fantastic Bananaman limited edition posters through his Comic Art web site, based on designs created by Nigel Parkinson.

Head over to John’s web site for the range – where his unique “No. 1 – Bananaman Grins”, not included in this competition, is still available!

Based in London, John Patrick Reynolds was the first screenprinter to get permission from DC Thomson, to use images from its archive of British comic characters from The Beano’s Dennis the Menace, The Bash Street Kids and Minnie the Minx to The Dandy’s Desperate Dan and the Sunday Post’s Oor Wullie and The Broons.

All John’s prints are limited editions, and all are numbered in pencil.

He’s also the only screenprinter in the UK to work with French publisher Editions Albert Réné to make screenprints of its characters Asterix, Obelix, Getafix and, of course, Dogmatix!
