Charlie Adlard

Comic Lareate Charlie Adlard‘s illustrations for The Walking Dead are recognised and celebrated throughout the world, along with his other work, and the artist will be giving a free talk about his career at the Grand Theatre, Lancaster, next month.

Organised by Lancaster University, this is a special preview event for the Lakes International Comic Arts Festival.

Charlie will give a short lecture on life as the illustrator for major comic series including The Walking Dead, Batman, The X Files and Judge Dredd and then take part in a discussion with Dr Andrew Tate from Lancaster’s Department of English and Creative Writing, before a Q&A session with the audience.

Charlie is a veteran of the comic industry, having been drawing for over 20 years, but he is best known as the illustrator of The Walking Dead, which has received many industry awards including an Eisner ‘Best Artist’ nomination.

Charlie became the UK Comics Laureate in October 2016, working to raise awareness of comics are a tool for increasing literacy and encouraging creativity in young people.
