The new British digital comics venture Electricomics will be in the spotlight at Thought Bubble this coming weekend, a venture whose team includes both Alan and Leah Moore.

As we reported back in May, Alan is leading a research and development project, Electricomics, to create an open source app enabling digital comics to be made by anyone, a digital comics project that will include the publication of a new anthology that will feature stories from Pete Hogan, Garth Ennis and Leah Moore and John Reppion.

Available at Leah Moore and John Reppion’s table at the weekend will be 500 Things, signed by Alan Moore, and, apparently, a Thought Bubble exclusive.

John and Leah, whose credits include Doctor Who: The Whispering Gallery and The Trial of Sherlock Holmes will be signing from 3.00 – 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday in the Royal Armouries Hall, tables 23 and 24. (Map here) and exhibiting all weekend in New Dock Hall, table 22 as part of the Electricomics team.

Leah is currently Project Managing Electricomics alongside her father. John’s most recently published solo work can be found in Cthulhu Lives!: An Eldritch Tribute to H.P. Lovecraft

The  Electricomics: Bright Sparks panel will take place on Saturday in the Royal Armouries Newsroom (4th Floor) from 1.30 – 2.20pm (free entry with Saturday/Weekend convention pass, all ages). Members of  the Electricomics team –Mitch Jenkins (Director – Orphans of the Storm), Daniel Merlin Goodbrey (Senior lecturer in Interaction Design at The University of Hertfordshire), Leah Moore, John Reppion and Pete Hogan – will shed light on the genesis and aims of their ambitious project, which aims to bring a new and completely self-contained Ecosystem to the world of digital comics.

Mitch Jenkins will also talk about ‘The Show’, the dark film project from he and Alan Moore that spawned Electricomics, and bring a message from the man behind the curtain himself.

The panel will also include a rundown on Digital Comics thus far from Daniel (whose digital comics creations are an absolute delight in themselves) and then Pete Hogan, Leah Moore and John Reppion will unburden themselves on storytelling with digital in mind.
