Top CBS comedy “2 Broke Girls” Meets Aces Weekly’s “Return of the Human”!

Hit US tv show 2 Broke Girls brings the Aces Weekly-published ground-breaking SF strip Return of the Human by J.C. Vaughn and Mark Wheatley to a potential audience of millions on Wednesday 10th February.

Set in Brooklyn, New York, 2 Broke Girls follows the story of waitresses – the  working-class Max (Kat Dennings), and Caroline (Beth Behrs) – the rich girl who’s hit rock bottom after her father stole money from half of New York’s high society in a Ponzi scheme. After Caroline discovers Max has a talent for making delicious cupcakes, the pair go into business together with the dream of making their fortune as cupcake entrepreneurs.

Return of the Human, the creation of writer J.C. Vaughn and artist Mark Wheatley, is set thousand years after humanity abandoned the poisoned Earth to build an empire across the stars, one man returns. Lance McCoy finds the Mother Planet is more than anyone suspected. But will it be enough to save his Galactic Civilisation from a relentless attack that seems designed to exterminate mankind?

In the new episode of 2 Broke Girls, now in its fifth season, “And The Booth Babes”, written by Rachel Lind & David Shecter and directed by Joel Murray, Max and Caroline sign up to be booth babes to get into a large gaming convention for free. Once inside, they discover Han Lee’s friend has created video game characters based on them, so they demand compensation.

The episode uses Return of the Human as its central set concept design.

Award-wining Mark Wheatley has designed for Lady Gaga, created set pieces for The Black Eyed Peas, and contributed designs to the ABC Beauty And The Beast television series. Several of his original graphic novels have been optioned for film, including Blood Of The Innocent. His comic book creations include Ez Street, Lone Justice, Mars and his interpretations of established characters such as Tarzan The Warrior, The Adventures Of Baron Munchausen, Jonny Quest, Doctor Strange, The Flash, Captain Action, Argus and America’s version of The Spider have brought them to life for a new generation of readers. He has written for TV, illustrated books, designed cutting-edge role-playing games, hosts a weekly radio program, and was an early innovator of the on-line daily comic strip form.

J.C. Vaughn is the creator of the horror properties Zombie-Proof (with Vincent Spencer), Vampire, PA, and Bedtime Stories For Impressionable Children and his comic writing credits include Mighty Samson (with former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter), Shi (with Eisner Award-nominee Billy Tucci), 24 (based on the Fox TV series) and Battlestar Galactica. He serves as Associate Publisher and Executive Editor of Gemstone Publishing, which is best known as the home of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide and the Scoop email newsletter and is the author of more than 5000 feature articles, reviews and informational pieces for titles such as Comics Buyer’s Guide, Toy Collector Magazine, Antique Trader, and many, many more.

“As it turns out, Return of the Human and Mark Wheatley were in the right place at the right time to nab the spot in the 2 Broke Girls production due to the amazing TV work Mark’s been doing the past few years,” J.C. Vaughn.

“I had done some work with production designer Glenda Rovello on The Millers,” Mark Wheatley adds, “so when she asked me to be involved with this episode of 2 Broke Girls I knew I would be working with a good team. Glenda does an amazing job of creating the look of the world of this show,”

• 2 Broke Girls “And the Booth Babes” (Episode 11) airs on CBS at 8.00pm ESTon Wednesday 10th February 2016 from 8.00 p.m. – 8.30 p.m in the US and on E4 in the UK. Season 5 started on E4 in the UK on 29th January, so expect Episode 11 to air on 8th April.
