Poster Posse’s “hate2wait” alternative film posters prove a moviegoer’s treat

Creative Agency Poster Posse has been running a series of “#hate2wait” alternative film posters created by some of the amazing, established artists on its books, including 2000AD cover artist Stephen Sampson, aka “The Dark Inker”. The work of new upcoming artists also features, too.

“Covid-19 has really put a damper on pop culture, note the agency. “Conventions have been cancelled, movie theaters are closed, films are being pushed back… it’s all adding up to a lot of desperate fans dying for their next ‘film fix.’”

To compensate – or, perhaps raise expectations far higher – the company, which represents a host of great artists from around the globe, is running its latest “Passion Project” titled, “#hate2wait” – a series of blog posts offering alternative film posters, geared towards all the films we are holding our breath to see.

Part One, for example, includes a James Bond No Time to Die poster by Orlando Arocena, Avatar 2 by Attila Szarka, and a Dune poster by Stephen Sampson.

Orlando Arocena‘s art also features Part Two, providing a Morbius the Living Vampire alternate and the upcoming Batman film, too, while Kaz Oomori tackles the new Matrix film and Aracely Munoz tackles Mulan.

Art by Mike Rogers

Part Three features the work of the agency’s first “Passion Posse Protégés” such as Sarah Atwa, with her take on a poster for The Green Knight, Mike Rogers on Top Gun: Maverick, and Dakota Randal on Star Wars: Kenobi.

“Our agency’s mission statement is to ‘Provide opportunities for artists,’ they explain. “For the past seven plus years, we have been doing that with our exclusive group of talented creatives. This year we opted to expand on that and offer our insights to artists outside our agency’s talent pool. For the past few months we have been working with these artists through Skype meetings, portfolio reviews and Q & A sessions. It was an extremely rewarding process for us (and hopefully for the artists involved) and to culminate the first session, we invited them to participate in our #hate2wait passion project.”

Stephen Sampson started his professional life as a comic book illustrator, working mostly for 2000AD and the Judge Dredd Magazine, also providing covers for Marvel UK’s Overkill.

He then moved into the games industry and has for a number of years worked on many exciting titles, while also taking on freelance illustration jobs for some very cool clients.

As well as bringing his lifelong passion and full commitment to each project, he believes that his unique style can add a different taste and twist that maybe what you’re looking for.
