Culture for Ukraine is a heartful project by the Czech arts organisation Tanec Praha, offering free Contemporary Dance lessons and theatre tickets for Ukrainians affected by the war.
Rooted in the belief that art has the power to heal, the initiative aims to provide emotional relief and a sense of community.
Ukrainian artist and comic creator Yulia Vus was invited to create a variety visuals for the project.

“In my design concept, I chose to highlight the colors of the Ukrainian flag — blue and yellow, complemented by a few bright, additional colours,” says Yulia. “My goal was to keep the visual language naive and sincere, reflecting the project’s emotional essence.”
It’s striking work from the comic artist who’s probably best known for her two comic series created for The Washington Post, “Life in Ukraine During the War”, capturing the experience of life in Ukraine during different stages of the current war. Her strips are very personal comics about the early days of full-scale Russian invasion in Ukraine in 2022, available to read here on The Washington Post website, and her Instagram.

An illustrator and comic artist with over eight years of experience in the creative and media industries, Yulia specialises in commercial and advertising illustration, editorial illustration, comics, book illustration and design. Her clients also include The Economist, and publishers such as Hachette.
