DARK KNIGHT PRODUCERS PLAN NEW SERIES
23/4/03: Palana Productions, producers of the Dark Knight fantasy series now screening on Showtime Extreme in the US but first shown on Channel 5 in the UK, are working on a new show, according to inside sources.
The second season of the show was script edited by Doctor Who‘s last script editor, Andrew Cartmel. More news as we get it.

MANGA MANIA!
In celebration of National Comics Week, London-based Spread the Word have arranged three Manga events in the Brixton area, including a screening of of Tetsuya Chiba’s Ashita no Jo, hailed as one of the greatest manga films of all time.
Tetsuya Chiba, in a rare UK appearance, will give a talk and live demonstration of his drawing before the screening.Comics experts Paul Gravett and Steve Holland will also be giving talks on the genre.
Tetsuya Chiba made his professional comic debut at 17 – Mama no Violin, his first series, appeared in 1958 in a girls magazine. In the 1960s he switched to creating comics for boys including Chikaino Makyu, a baseball story, on text by Kazuya Fukumoto. Other series soon followed including Ashita no Jo in 1968, written by Asao Takamori, which centres on a tragic boxing hero.

23/4/03: Readers anxiously awaiting the July release of Arrowsmith #1 — the 6-issue Cliffhanger! miniseries by Kurt Busiek, Carlos Pacheco & Jésus Meriño — can catch a special 8-page preview story. This story is not scheduled to appear in the Arrowsmith miniseries, and is available exclusively online.
The story introduces the world of Fletcher Arrowsmith, where magic and munitions play equally important roles in the early days of World War I.
“We’re happy to give readers and retailers the chance to get a taste of the series before it comes out, get a feel for what it’ll be like, and luxuriate in that gorgeous Pacheco/Meriño artwork,” says Kurt Busiek. “This is a book we’ve been working on for a long time, so I’m glad we can get a promotion like this, and I hope readers get as much of a kick out of it as we’ve had doing it.”
• Arrowsmith #1 will be solicited in the May issue of Previews (Volume XIII #5) and is scheduled to reach comic-book stores on 16 July
