“The Michaelangelo of our time.” – George Lucas
Frank Miller is an award-winning comic book writer, artist, novelist, inker, screenwriter, film director, and producer best known for Daredevil, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, and 300, among others. He also coauthored with Tom Wheeler the young adult novel Cursed, which was adapted into a Netflix series. His projects have been nominated for the Palme d’Or and have won the Harvey and Eisner Awards, including those for Best Writer/Artist, Best Graphic Novel Reprint, Best Cartoonist, Best Cover Artist, Best Limited Series, and Best Short Story. In 2015, Miller was inducted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame for his lifetime contribution to the industry.
Miller was instrumental, with others, in transforming the way US comics were told and reshaped popular culture in America and the world.
In an exclusive In Conversation event, hear about his struggles as a fresh faced seventeen year-old kid in seedy 1970s New York and his success reimagining Daredevil and Wolverine: and, of course, his transformation of Batman from a childish has-been into gritty, noirish hero. Then, head to Hollywood, and hear about the Sin City comics and movies, and his legendary retelling of the Spartans’ last stand in 300.
Discover how Frank got his first breaks, how he poured his own life into his darkly realistic characters, how he fought against censorship, and how he used manga-style storytelling, a decade before anime began tiptoeing into the mainstream.
Throughout, Frank will share insights into his artistic process, offering lessons for aspiring writers and artists drawn from a lifetime at the summit of popular storytelling.
