Liverpool based artist Tommy Graham‘s latest exhibition “Unreal Comics of Liverpool”, on until tomorrow at The Royal Liver Building in the city, delivers a very unique love letter to his adopted home city.

Known for his witty, imaginative depictions of people, places, and situations, Tommy’s latest illustrations offer a window into an alternative world where bizarre scenarios play out across some of Liverpool’s most recognisable locations.
Tommy Graham fell in love with Liverpool when he was studying Fine Art at John Moores University. Since graduating in 2002 he has established himself as an artist, illustrator, and cartoonist.
Photographer Laura McCann, who is the curator at the exhibition, notes he’s exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, with projects spanning museums, theatres, poster design, and large-scale public works. His live painting has earned him awards and critical recognition, and you may have seen his work in places such as The Everyman theatre or interactive pieces around the Museum of Liverpool.
His latest project, Unreal Comics of Liverpool is a series of imagined comic book covers featuring bright and bold illustrations of well-known locations around Liverpool. Tommy has always had a fondness for comics and the images depict an array of fantasy “what if” scenarios around famous landmarks, such as sea monsters emerging from the The Royal Albert Dock and giant creatures lurking in the city’s subterranean tunnels.
