Music Matters: Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy

Daft Punk - Tron: Legacy Vinyl

Getting ready for autumn’s appearance of the new Tron film, Tron: Ares? Get in the mood with a double album on colour vinyl by Daft Punk of the million-selling Tron: Legacy soundtrack.

Reelased in 2010, it’s the only film score by the French music duo. The score features an 85-piece orchestra, recorded at AIR Lyndhurst Studios in London, arranged and orchestrated by Joseph Trapanese.

Daft Punk cited Wendy Carlos, the composer of the original Tron film, as well as Max Steiner, Bernard Herrmann, John Carpenter, Vangelis, Philip Glass, and Maurice Jarre as inspirations for the soundtrack, which blends orchestra and electronics for a pretty epic soundtrack experience.

Electronic Sound is offering copies of the 2021 pressing, on clear and blue transparent vinyl.

    But not Hans Zimmer.

When it sounds exactly like Dark Knight-era Zimmer. From a time when every movie seemed to have that sound. It was the law.
