Royal Mail is putting its prices up again in April, so the latest issues of long-running print fanzine Past Perfect – and other releases – will be shipping a week earlier than intended in order to get them at the current price.
Past Perfect, a ‘zine originally known as “Reviews from the Floor of 64” was first published back in 2008 as a comics magazine dedicated to everything to do with Britain’s Power Comics. Edited by Paul Ware and available on subscription, individual back issues of this print zine, which now covers more than comics, are also offered on eBay.

The latest issue – No. 236 – includes the first of three visits to Dracula in the cinema. The first look, of course, focuses on the classic 1930s Bela Lugosi version, which will be followed by follow up features on Christopher Lee from the end of the 1950s and then the 1970s Frank Langella take on the great “man”.
Also in this issue: the start of a new series, “Star Trek Continues: To Boldly Go”; a look at Roy Thomas’s World War Two Marvel superhero saga, The Invaders, which kicked off with Giant-Size #1; plus “Marvel Team Ups Presents” focuses on Secret Wars #9; Legion of Super-Heroes Part 3 offers a look at Adventure #300-302; and there’s items on Marvel’s Thor #380 (Hela’s Curse Part 8), Fantastic Four #47 featuring the incomparable Inhumans; and Daredevil #19.
Beyond comics, Past Perfect heads down “Memory Lane” with items on Start Trek: The Next Generation Season 7’s two-part story, “Gambit”, which opens with the apparent killing of Captain Picard; Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 7 Episode 11, “Showtime”, with Buffy training would-be slayers, as she continues to search for ways to vanquish the Ubervamp and save Spike; and Warehouse 13 Season 4 Episodes 8-9, “Second Chance” and “The Ones You Love”, the latter seeing Pete and Myka investigating a man who begins to rust…
Also out next month from Past Perfect is issue No.8 of their quarterly special, Avengers Assemble! Offering features on Marvel’s The Avengers #64-77, including the Grand-Master and the Squadron Sinister; Marvel Super-Heroes #17, featuring the Black Knight; Captain Marvel #17, in which Cap first teams up with Rick Jones; The Amazing Spider-Man #71, guest starring Quicksilver; and The Incredible Hulk #128, guest starring the new Avengers line-up following the return of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.

Many thanks for your posts re Past Perfect. With eBay getting difficult with non-business users it’s getting so that I need to try and sell elsewhere. Anything that gets the word out there is much appreciated. Paul Ware.
You’re very welcome, Paul. Thanks for your hard work. Great to see a print zine still “out there” in these digital times!
