Original work by some of the country’s top comic artists will be available for £50 at a charity art event in Shrewsbury this summer.
Charlie Adlard, Mike Perkins, Sean Philips, Duncan Fegredo, Mike Collins, Michael Lark, Dan Berry and Dylan Teague have confirmed that they have contributed to The Secret Artist Sale.
Hosted by The Soden Collection gallery in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, the event will take place on Sunday 24th August 2025.
“This is the third year we have helped to organise the sale and are delighted that this time so many leading comic artists have agreed to take part,” said Jonathan Soden of the gallery.
The innovative sale was last held two years ago when customers queued overnight, raising almost £13,000 for charity.
It will open at 10.00am on 24th August, with a viewing day on Saturday 23rd August, and will feature over 100 original pieces of work from local, national and international artists.
“All of the work is A5 size, signed on the reverse, and available for purchase at a standard price of £50,” Jonathan says, explaining why this is a ‘secret’ sale, “with all proceeds going to three good causes: The Hive, Grinshill Animal Rescue and the Alzheimer’s Society.
“The artist’s identity remains unknown until the work is purchased, which means buyers have the opportunity to acquire outstanding artwork at a fraction of the usual cost.”
Jonathan Soden set up The Soden Collection in 2017, an art gallery working with emerging British artists, to present a carefully selected portfolio of original, quality work by artists who are increasingly establishing their reputation in the contemporary art market.
The Collection quickly gained attention in the local area as the place to go for contemporary art, and has since become known for showcasing and sourcing artwork by the modern masters such as, David Hockney, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, Tracey Emin to name but a few.
Working with private clients, interior designers and corporate collectors, they also advise clients on finding the right artists and artworks to fit their specific interests and budget.
