The 2013 Edinburgh International Book Festival took place in the Scottish capitol in August this year and for the first time incorporated a major comics thread in its programming – Stripped. Over the course of its near two and a half weeks around 225,000 visits were made to the Book Festival gardens with sales of both event tickets and books up nearly 6% on their 2012 levels.
BookFest regularly records many of its events either on audio or video and the Stripped events were no different. However in addition to these recordings, the majority of the Stripped talks were reviewed by comics people on the Stripped BookFest blog as well as some of the Stripped guests being interviewed in the BookFest gardens by those same bloggers.
These event reviews and 1 hour long event recordings plus the 5 to 10 minute garden interviews are available online via the BookFest website, the Stripped blog and the BookFest’s YouTube channel, allowing those who were not able to attend Stripped the opportunity to experience a little of the atmosphere of the events as well as hear and see what was discussed. Since the Stripped Blog has no search facility we have included the full list of Stripped blog event reviews here, in addition to the ones that were written for the Stripped blog but only run on either downthetubes or the FPI Blog, as well as the audio and video event recordings and the garden interviews.
In these short, wet and windy days of winter enjoy some memories of those long, warm and busy summer days.
