Doctor Who Adventures Issue 18: Who Goes West(ern)!

By John Freeman on 24 August 2016 • ( 1 )

The latest issue of Doctor Who Adventures, Issue 18, is out now from Panini Comics, featuring a quirky cowboy yarn written by former Doctor Who TV series script editor and novelist Andrew Cartmel, drawn by Russ Leach and coloured by John Burns.

We thought you might like to see this page study by Russ, revealing how he created one page for the strip in the latest issue. You can read an interview with him here, talking about his “Doctor Who Adventures” work day, how he got into creating comics for a living and his advice for aspiring creators.

How Russ Leach creates a page for Doctor Who Adventures

The issues offer its usual formidable mix of new Doctor Who stories – including a Paternoster Gang tale from Rik Hoskin and the daft Time Shark cartoon by Grant Perkins; plus a mix of features on the show itself, much of it tongue in cheek but great fun for younger readers. I particularly like Sontaran Strax’s alien guides!
